Mirena

What is Mirena?
Mirena is a commonly used plastic intrauterine device (IUD) for women that can be used to prevent pregnancy for up to 5 years. The device works by releasing small amounts of levonorgestrel, a progestin hormone, into the uterus to prevent pregnancy and treat heavy menstrual bleeding.

Mirena has been linked to causing the following injuries:

  • Pseudotumor Cerebri (PTC)
  • Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH)
  • Vision Problems
  • Tinnitus
  • Gross Motor Impairment

Lawsuit Information

Women who have suffered from pseudotumor cerebri after Mirena IUD implementation are filing lawsuits against Bayer, the manufacturer. Bayer allegedly knew, yet failed to properly warn consumers about the potential risks of pseudotumor cerebri and other complications.

Bayer breached product liability law by not informing its customers of the potential health risks related to the product. The manufacturer of Mirena isn’t the only liable party for the injuries involving the defective device. Healthcare providers can also be held liable for medical malpractice by not disclosing the risks involving Mirena.

Time is limited! Act now to see if you qualify.
