Round Up
What is Roundup?
Roundup is one of the world’s most widely-used herbicides manufactured by Monsanto. It is an agricultural product that was designed as a weed killer.
In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer determined that Roundup’s main ingredient, Glyphosate, was a “probable human carcinogen.” They also cited research linking the chemical to Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Who is at risk?
Employees with extended exposure in the workplace may be highest at risk due to breathing the chemical while spraying, or drinking water or food contaminated with the chemical. These workers include, but are not limited to, farmers, gardeners, and other agricultural workers.
Roundup Lawsuit Information:
The manufacturer, Monsanto, was aware of the possible risks involving the chemical but did not warn the public and its consumers. The court documents also suggest a disagreement and possible collusion with the EPA in order to hide the connection between Roundup and cancer. Despite IARC finding Glyphosate to be carcinogenic, Monsanto still states today that Roundup poses no health risk to humans. It is for this reason that Monsanto has issued no recalls on its product, Roundup.
